We have three nursing moms, 18 nursing puppies, and one expecting mom who would love to stay in your home for just a little while. Finding a temporary Foster Hero home for these dogs will allow AHS to take in more pregnant or nursing dogs in need!
AHS’ Mutternity Suites provide a quiet, contained place for mothers to give birth with medical supervision. Our goal is to then move these little families into Foster Hero homes, where they can receive more individualized attention until the babies are weaned and they’re all ready to find their forever homes.
Meet our current Mutternity Suites residents!
Melody and her six puppies were brought to AHS from Maricopa County Animal Care and Control as part of our partner assistance program, Project Reachout, which transfers pets to AHS from overcrowded shelters when space allows. Melody is a very sweet and shy Labrador Retriever mix who allows new friends to handle her puppies.
Noelle was brought to an emergency animal clinic when she was hit by a car. Thankfully, she only suffered minor wounds but it was soon discovered that she was pregnant. She was quickly transferred AHS’ Mutternity Suites where she gave birth to three healthy puppies, who are affectionately referred to as “Noelle’s Bells.”
Hailey and her Pumpkins are quite the pack… super mom Hailey has a whopping NINE puppies to care for! She was also transferred to AHS from MCACC through Project Reachout. Hailey and her Pumpkins are hopeful to find a warm, calm home to nurse in this holiday season.
Dottie is a pretty pregnant Pittie (say that five times fast!) who also came to AHS from our partners at MCACC. Though it’s not yet clear how many babies she is carrying, we are looking for a home that will welcome her in with open arms. Do you have an extra room to spare?
