We’re On a Mission to Save More Lives
In 2013, the Arizona Humane Society decided that the impact we had been making for 60 years could be even bigger. We set out with an ambitious goal to end animal suffering, homelessness and needless euthanasia in Maricopa County. We made strategic partnerships, and implemented a host of innovative new programs. And the numbers are in: It’s working.
150,000 More Pets Saved
Since 2013, we’ve reduced euthanasia by 83%. That’s 150,000 additional lives saved. Our trauma hospital and rescue and cruelty investigations team save thousands of dogs, cats, and critters every year. Our Mutternity Suites, Kitten Nursery, Bottle Baby ICU and Parvo Puppy ICU care for the pets who would be quickly euthanized in other shelters. And every day, we’re providing our community with affordable veterinary care and financial assistance to keep more pets in homes.
Innovative and visionary programs like these have made our community into a national model of what’s possible when saving lives becomes the top priority.

We Can’t Continue This Work Without You
Every pet we care for costs an average of $1,200. And because we’re a local organization that’s not funded by any other humane society or government agency, we’re completely dependent on the support from our community.

Financial gifts are the lifeblood of our operations. And every dollar matters:
- $10 helps provide food to our shelter animals
- $25 can help with gas costs for our rescue vehicles
- $50 helps underwrite a spay or neuter surgery of a pet to prepare them for adoption
- $100 will save the life of a severely injured animal
- $250 buys medication for pets in our trauma hospital

We accept gently used clothes, electronics, furniture and more to be sold in our thrift stores, where all profits go directly to helping our pets. You can even give your car as a donation to support our pets and programs—or purchase one!

Our Innovative System of Care
We’ve made traditional shelters obsolete. Our 360° System of Care provides vital support to pets and owners at every life stage, pushing our ability to serve far beyond life at the shelter.

We believe that knowledge is the fastest way to create real change. That’s why we created our education programs, community outreach and teaching hospital.

Keeping Pets in Homes
We provide pet owners in difficult situations with the support they need through our Pet Resource Center, and we’re bringing vital services like vaccinations and spay/neuter to more pets with our clinics and mobile vet.
