Vaccinating your pet is easy, inexpensive and essential for helping them enjoy a long, healthy life. Pet vaccines help protect your dog or cat from contagious diseases, many of which can cause serious illness or death. AHS vaccinates all homeless animals upon intake and provides affordable veterinary services to thousands of pet owners every year.

Schedule a Vaccination Appointment

We make it easier than ever to get your pet the vaccines they need to stay healthy. Vaccine appointments are available at both of our campuses* as well as our Healthy Tails Mobile Veterinary Clinic, and our $40 office visit fee is waived for all vaccine-only appointments. For households with more than one pet, please note that each pet needs their own appointment slot. We are not able to see more than one pet per appointment.

Thanks to generous grants from PetSmart Charities, Circle of Friends and Fix. Adopt. Save., we are able to offer assistance for customers in financial need.

What Vaccinations Do They Need?

  • Canines
  • Canine Puppies

  • DA2PP
    We recommend vaccinating puppies starting at 6 to 8 weeks of age, boostering every 3 to 4 weeks, until they are 20 weeks old. At 20 weeks old, puppies receive a DA2PP vaccine good for one year.

    Rabies
    We recommend vaccinating puppies 12 weeks or older for rabies. Good for one year.

    Leptospirosis
    We recommended vaccinating puppies over 9 weeks old who may come into contact with wildlife in either urban or rural areas. Booster in 3 to 4 weeks. Good for one year.

    Bordetella
    We recommend vaccinating puppies starting at 8 weeks old who will be boarded, groomed or visiting dog parks. Repeat annually.

    Heartworm Test and Prevention
    We recommend administering heartworm prevention (which includes a common dewormer) every 30 days starting at 6 weeks of age. The first heartworm test should be performed at 6 months. Repeat annually.

    Flea and Tick Prevention
    We recommend administering flea and tick prevention every 30 days starting at 8 weeks of age.

    *We recommend puppies get dewormed at each puppy visit.

    After an adult dog has received their initial DA2PP vaccine, good for one year, we recommend a DA2PP vaccine every three years thereafter.

    Rabies
    After an adult dog has received their initial Rabies vaccine, good for one year, we recommend a Rabies vaccine every three years thereafter.

    Leptospirosis
    After an adult dog has received their initial Leptospirosis vaccine, good for one year, we recommend a Leptospirosis every year thereafter.

    Bordetella
    After an adult dog has received their initial Bordetella vaccine, good for one year, we recommend a Bordetella every year thereafter.

    Heartworm Test and Prevention
    We recommend administering heartworm prevention (which includes a common dewormer) every 30 days starting at 6 weeks of age. We recommend adult dogs be tested for Heartworm annually.

    Flea and Tick Prevention
    We recommend administering flea and tick prevention every 30 days starting at 8 weeks of age.

  • Canine Adults (1 year or older with no vaccine history)

  • DA2PP
    We recommend a single DA2PP vaccine, good for one year. After initial vaccine, vaccinate every three years thereafter.

    Rabies
    We recommend a single Rabies vaccine, good for one year. After initial vaccine, vaccinate every three years thereafter.

    Leptospirosis
    We recommended vaccinating dogs who may come into contact with wildlife in either urban or rural areas for Leptospirosis. Booster in three to four weeks and will be good for one year. After an adult dog has received this initial vaccine, vaccinate annually.

    Bordetella
    We recommend a single Bordetella vaccine, good for one year. After an adult dog has received this initial vaccine, we recommend a Bordetella vaccine every year thereafter.

  • FVRCP
    We recommend vaccinating kittens starting at 6 to 8 weeks of age with the FVRCP vaccine, and giving a booster every three to four weeks until they are between 16 to 20 weeks old. At 16 to 20 weeks old, kittens receive a FVRCP vaccine good for one year.

    Rabies
    We recommend vaccinating kittens 12 weeks or older for rabies. This vaccine will be good for one year. Rabies is a serious human health concern – vaccinating every cat protects them and you.

    FeLV
    We recommend vaccinating kittens over 8 weeks old with the FeLV vaccine. This vaccine should be boostered in three to four weeks and will be good for one year.

    FeLV/FIV Testing
    We recommend testing all kittens over 12 weeks old for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) and Feline Leukemia virus (FeLV). For cats who go outdoors, this test should be repeated annually.

    Flea and Tick Prevention
    We recommend administering flea and tick prevention every 30 days starting at 8 weeks of age.
