ABC 15: Mac Survived Chemical Burns in 2013, Now Looking for a New Home
Written by: Arizona Humane Society
News Highlights:
When Mac, a Rhodesian Ridgeback, arrived at AHS in the summer of 2013, his entire back was charred and skin completely singed, from what veterinarians later determined to be chemical burns.
It took two complicated surgeries, weeks of pain management, laser therapy, daily bandage changes, and months of care in a foster home before Mac’s third degree burns finally healed.
Mac resided in a home for a few years where he was obedience trained, socialized with dogs, and grew fond of kids, however, due to landlord restrictions, Mac is sadly back at AHS looking for a new place to call home.
The permanent scars on Mac’s back will always serve as a reminder of the trauma he once endured, but those scars deter potential adopters who are unaware of Mac’s survival story.
Mac is patiently waiting for a home (one without cats or small critters) at the AHS’ Nina Mason Pulliam Campus for Compassion, located at 1521 W. Dobbins Road in Phoenix.
