3TV & CBS 5: Pet Heat Safety

News Highlights:

• So far this month alone, AHS’ Emergency Animal Medical Technicians™ have responded to more than 600 cases of sick or injured pets needing rescue or animal cruelty investigations, 28% of which are heat related.
• Common heat related cases include pets left outside without water or shelter, pets left in hot cars, and more.
• AHS’ EAMTs™ can provide support to pets in the field, including giving IV fluids to hydrate pets as they drive to AHS’ Second Chance Animal Trauma Hospital™.
• Pet owners are encouraged to know the signs of heat stress, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke, as well as how to prevent it.
