Over 140 Spay and Neuter Surgeries Made Possible by AzCASNC

Wags and purrs for the Arizona Companion Animal Spay/Neuter Committee!

The Arizona Companion Animal Spay/Neuter Committee, whose mission is to help fund the alteration surgeries of Arizona pets in need, has underwritten the cost of 145 spay/neuter surgeries for pets in the Arizona Humane Society’s care! Beyond our own shelter walls, the committee awarded a whopping $925,000 in grants to support spay/neuter efforts throughout the state this year.

This grant is funded by the support and sales of the Arizona Pet Friendly License Plates, voluntary contributions by Arizona residents through personal income tax returns, and a special allocation of $550,000 from the state budget thanks to Senator John Kavanagh’s efforts. This is a huge win for Arizona pets and its efforts to tackle the pet overpopulation issue!

We’re big advocates for spaying female pets and neutering male pets here at AHS. In addition to preventing unwanted litters, altering your pet prior to maturity (at 4–6 months old, or before a female’s first heat cycle) offers the best protection against serious health issues and the development of negative behaviors. We’re so grateful for AzCASNC’s support as it enables us to provide these procedures to as many pets as possible!
