Meet Lundgren (“Lundy”), the Special Needs Labrador Looking for His Fur-ever Home

We see a lot of special pets here at the Arizona Humane Society. But few capture our hearts quite like Lundgren, aka “Lundy.”

Lundy is a smiley Labrador Retriever who came to us in August. He was rescued by an AHS Emergency Animal Medical Technician™ after being found as an injured stray. Once in AHS’ Second Chance Animal Trauma Hospital™, he was treated for a severe wound on his abdomen, and we thought he was on his way to full health. However, it was recently discovered that he has been experiencing muscle atrophy (muscle loss) on one side of his head.

Our veterinarians suspect this issue may be caused by a slow-growing tumor. However, further diagnostic testing is needed to determine the underlying cause. Luckily, Lundy seems as active as ever. His quality of life is good, and we want to give him every chance possible at living out his days happily.

So for that reason, we’re searching for a special adopter to take this boy home. Lundy still has a lot of love to give, and we know there’s someone out there for him. However, we recommend that his future family works with a veterinarian to do additional testing. This may lead to potential ongoing care.

Lundy needs someone who will not only love this good boy for the darling dog his is but also be willing to take on his potential medical needs. This older gentleman has shown himself to be a typical, lovable Lab and a loyal companion who gets along with his two-legged friends. But like most dogs, he’ll need to meet other pups in the home to ensure it’s a good fit.
