Adopt For $0 During Weekend Adoption Blitz

Hurry, clear all your weekend plans so we can clear our kennels! From August 12-13, 2023, the Arizona Humane Society will be hosting a two-day adoption blitz that will allow you to take home any of the furry friends in our care for $0! In an effort to continue fighting our ongoing capacity crisis, we’re aiming to find forever homes for 300 pets over this two-day period, and we know our supporters across the Valley can help us reach this goal.

Local animal welfare organizations have been grappling with overflowing kennels for months now, and the record-breaking July heat has only exacerbated the crisis. Last month, AHS cared for more than 2,000 animals, a 15% increase over July 2022. Overall, we’re seeing an increase in pets surrendered by their owners, primarily due to costs and housing restrictions, as well as an increase in heat-related cases that are treated at AHS’ trauma hospital.

“We are on pace to care for 20,000 animals this year, which is a number we have not seen in almost a decade,” said Dr. Steven Hansen, AHS President and CEO. “This time of year, we fill up our kennels just as quickly as we clear them out which is why finding new homes for the animals that have already received care at AHS is such an integral part of our System of Care.”

We couldn’t find these animals homes without you opening your doors and hearts to them, so come on down to either our Nina Mason Pulliam South Mountain Campus or our PetSmart Scottsdale location this weekend to adopt your new family member!

Event details:

• ALL fees waived for ALL pets of ALL ages
• Both our South Mountain Campus and PetSmart Scottsdale (Miller/Camelback) adoption locations
• All pets are spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Adopters will take home a starter kit of Hill’s Science Diet food. AHS’ 100% Adoption Guarantee means that if an adopted pet is not a great fit for a family, the pet can be returned to our shelter for any reason, throughout their entire life.
